Wheel Build Guidelines
For the best performance and longevity, follow these wheel-building recommendations:
Spoke Tension
- Use a high-end tension gauge (properly calibrated).
- Target tension: 115 kg/f (1130 N/m).
- Maintain spoke tension within 2% variance on each side of the hub.
- DO NOT build without a tension meter—improper tension can cause premature failure.
Spoke Nipples
- Use only Sapim spokes and Sapim Polyax nipples.
- The Polyax nipple shape eliminates the need for washers and provides superior spoke articulation.
Tools & Truing Stand
- Use high-quality tools for precision:
- Park Tool truing stand
- Lateral dishing tool
- High-quality 4-sided spoke keys
- Take your time—a properly built wheel can last a lifetime.
